| Other goals and components
of the Bildner initiative include:
- Selection of transcultural
fellows from among the faculty who are interested in
bridging multicultural theory and practice through existing
courses, and relating course work to other disciplines through
collaboration
- An annual summer institute for Transcultural
fellows to allow them to hear leading experts in areas relevant
to intercultural projects
- In Camden, the formation of an Intercultural
Steering Committee for interdisciplinary dialogue and
planning
- In Newark, the development of new courses
and the revision of existing ones, and incorporation of
ethnic life histories as an innovative instructional practice.
The project will be led by the Institute on Ethnicity, Culture
and the Modern Experience in conjunction with the Dean of
the Newark Faculty of Arts and Sciences
- Co-curricular programming,
such as lectures, colloquia and cultural events open to
the public
- Development of a Rutgers Intercultural Web
site that will serve as a resource for courses and co-curricular
programming, and also provide links to relevant sites and
a virtual forum fostering communication among students and
faculty.
